Giving Back

Our people care about positively impacting the lives and living environment of vulnerable people. They do this through their work, and also contribute their own time, expertise and money to individual initiatives and our BrITE Foundation. This is a charity set up and run by our people which delivers small-scale projects for people and planet. A selection of projects supported in 2024 appear below.

Coral larvae for the Great Barrier Reef

The BrITE Foundation gave 9,500 euros to Australia’s Reef Restoration Foundation to help purchase an optics device that improves results in one of its programmes to safeguard the future of coral reefs. The device mimics the wild environment in mobile nurseries spawning billions of fertilised coral larvae. The larvae are used to build resilience in the good times and turbo charge reef recovery during periods of warm water and wild weather.

 Rewilding the Scottish Highlands

A donation of 10,000 euros was made to the Trees for Life charity in Scotland to support its wild seed collection project to increase the availability of native trees. The charity is restoring a vital part of Scotland’s natural heritage by protecting and developing a living, thriving forest landscape where wildlife and people can flourish together. Some of our people also joined a seed collection day in the forests of Glen Finglas in the Scottish Highlands when 6.8kg of hawthorn berries were collected which could grow around 11,000 hawthorn trees.

Rice for typhoon-struck Philippine village

In August 2024, BrITE doubled the funds raised by our team in the Philippines to aid families in the coastal village of Pamarawan who had been hit by devastating typhoon floods. The team has been collaborating with this community for over a year through a nature-based flood protection project. After reaching out to the village leaders, it became clear there was an urgent need for rice. The funds donated enabled 1,450kg rice to be given to the villagers.
